Before studying to become a professional copy editor and proofreader, I spent eight years working as a university administrator in Southampton and London.

The rates for copyediting and proofreading are determined by

the length of the manuscript, essay or document

the level of editing required

the turnaround time
Please note that pricing may increase for last-minute jobs and holidays.

Minimum hourly rates are as follows:

Proofreading: £18.00

Copyediting: £23.00 (Rates are revised in March each year).
